During this Holiday Season, please support Marcellus Protest

Dear Supporters of Marcellus Protest,

November 2013 marks the third anniversary of Pittsburgh's ban on fracking. Pittsburgh was the first community in the entire world to take this bold action, and the Marcellus Protest organization is proud of our role in helping to make it happen.

At this time of holiday giving, we are asking our friends to make a tax-deductible donation to support our efforts. To do so, you can donate online by going to our website www.marcellusprotest.org/donate, or you can send a check to our fiscal sponsor, made out the "The Thomas Merton Center" with "Marcellus Protest" in the memo field. Checks should be mailed to: The Thomas Merton Center, 5129 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, 15224.

Why we hope you'll support Marcellus Protest:

In addition to working to protect Pittsburgh's ban on fracking, we hold local educational events, support the work of other activists, and maintain the anti-fracking website www.marcellusprotest.org. And, over the past 5 months, we have joined with 16 other local and state organizations to create the Protect Our Parks Coalition.

Protect Our Parks is working to protect the Allegheny County Parks from fracking exploitation by Range Resources, an infamous violator of environmental regulations. Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald has worked behind closed doors with industry to push County Council to lease that land, but the education and outreach by POP has caused hundreds to contact their Council members, and our representatives are listening. We can win on this issue, if we have enough support.

Of course, blocking Range Resources' attempts to frack Allegheny County Parks would not just help residents in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area - it would send a signal across the state and the nation that fracking efforts can be stopped, just as Pittsburgh's ban did three years ago.

As always, Marcellus Protest is a 100% all-volunteer organization, and we need your support for these and other activities. Please donate at our website www.marcellusprotest.org/donate, or by check as explained above.

Thank you for your support and we wish you a frack-free holiday season!
