Advocacy Workshop

Clean Air Council is mobilizing 1,000 concerned residents across Southwest PA and training them to become local experts on issues related to pollution in their communities. In conjunction with the Southwest PA Neighbors for Clean Air initiative, we are hosting a series of workshops to provide current and future initiative participants with important advocacy skills.

Clean Air Council's third “Workshop to Scratch the Advocacy Itch” will be held on Thursday, July 12th from 6:00 - 9:00pm in the cafeteria of St Colman Church. This workshop is free and open to the public, and the purpose of the event is to educate and equip advocates with the necessary tools to make a positive impact in their community. Attendees will have the opportunity to sit in on three of following five sessions:

Framing the Issue: The New Petrochemical Hub - Matt Mehalik, Breathe Collaborative

Navigating Opposition at Public Meetings - Lois Bjornson & Dave Smith, Clean Air Council

Municipal Ordinances 101 - Doug Shields, Food and Water Watch

Citizen Science: Breathe Cams and Air Monitoring - Ana Hoffman & Jessica Pachuta, CMU CREATE Lab

Mon Valley Community Efforts - Edith Abeyta, North Braddock Residents for Our Future
