Clean Air Workshop - Clairton

Clean Air Council is hosting a workshop on air quality in Clairton.

Featured presentations include:

  • Health in Your Community - Dr. Deborah Gentile

    Dr. Gentile is an allergy and asthma specialist who studies asthma prevalence and risk factors among local children. She has asthma occurring among children who live near large sources of pollution at over twice the national and state averages. After the Christmas Eve fire at the Clairton Coke Plant, she found that asthma had become worse in 25% of the children enrolled in Clairton's school-based asthma clinic.

  • Air Quality 101 - The Group Against Smog and Pollution (GASP)

    GASP will focus on the regional sources of air pollution, their associated health effects, and ways for community members to lower their exposure. The will also discuss ways for community members to activate their voices and stand up for cleaner, healthier air.

  • All Things Air Monitoring by Blue Lens, CREATE Lab and ROCIS

    This workshop will include experts to introduce you to a variety of monitoring devices and technologies for tracking indoor and outdoor air quality. Presenters include Mark Dixon (Blue Lens), developers from the CMU CREATE Lab, and Linda Wiggington from ROCIS.
