PaDEP shuts down Mariner 2 East Pipeline Construction

As reported in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on January 3, 2018, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has halted construction of the Mariner 2 East natural gas pipeline.

In issuing its order, DEP cited what it called "egregious and willful violations" of laws and regulations. Although DEP halted construction until Sunoco complies with its permit, observers near the pipeline route have since reported that crews are "packing up and leaving."

In a separate article on this same DEP action, PennLIve tells the story of a landowner in Cumberland County for whom the suspension order was a belated and bittersweet vindication.
