Public Comment on Health Dept. - US Steel (Clairton) Settlement

The Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) has negotiated a settlement of all its enforcement actions taken against US Steel's violations of the Clairton operating permit. Public comments are being solicited by ACHD.

The Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) announced today that it will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 6 p.m. at the Clairton Municipal Building to receive citizen comments regarding the department’s settlement agreement with U.S. Steel.

A public hearing allows verbal comments to be entered into the record and will have equal weight to any written comment received by ACHD during this public comment period which ends Wednesday, July 31, 2019.

This hearing will operate in the standard format that the Air Quality Program holds for permits, rules and plans.Members of the public that wish to speak must sign up 24 hours in advance of the hearing by calling 412-578-8103 or emailing aqcomments@alleghenycounty.us. Each commenter has three minutes to speak. Members of the public that cannot attend this hearing are encouraged to submit a written comment. Those instructions can be found here.
