Announcement: Donation & Fiscal Sponsorship Change

Both new and old visitors to our website will notice that our fiscal sponsorship has recently changed.

(A fiscal sponsor is the organization designated by the Federal government as a "501(c)(3)" charitable organization, which allows such organization to grant tax deductions to donors in return for their financial support.)

Since the founding of MarcellusProtest, we have been fortunate to have the Center for Coalfield Justice (CCJ), in Washington, PA, agree to serve as our "sponsor" and to manage our accounts. We have now found it more convenient to become a project of the Thomas Merton Center (TMC) here in Pittsburgh. This is mostly due to the need for geographic proximity and daily access.

The Thomas Merton Center has been serving as the home for various peace and justice projects for 40 years, including other environmental work. Now, as an official "project" of TMC, we can also use its offices for small meetings.

We extend our deepest appreciation to the staff and board of the Center for Coalfield Justice, and we look forward to a rewarding relationship with the Thomas Merton Center.

Please note that donations, by check, to Marcellus Protest must now be made out to "The Thomas Merton Center" with Marcellus Protest on the check memo line. (Online donations continue to be thru PayPal and are automatically credited to Marcellus Protest when you use our donate page.)

We encourage you to continue support for the work we do with Marcellus Protest by going to our donate page now to make a tax-deductible donation. We also encourage you to support the good work which CCJ continues to do, and to become a member and supporter of our new sponsor, the Thomas Merton Center.

Many thanks!
