Marcellus Citizen Stewardship Project Info Meeting

The Mountain Watershed Association is developing a pilot 'Marcellus Citizen Stewardship Project' to increase public awareness of issues associated with developing the Marcellus shale in western Pennsylania. As part of this project, MWA will host four informational meetings and two citizen training sessions located in the Yough basin.

The informational meetings for citizens will include information on the drilling and permitting process, leasing pitfalls, compliance and the DEP's role in oversight, and water, air and health impacts.There's more…

The Promise and Perils of the Marcellus Shale

Five faculty from Carnegie Mellon and Duquesne University come together for a discussion on the Marcellus Shale, a geological formation underlying the state of Pennsylvania containing large reserves of natural gas, and a hot button economic and environmental issue for the Pittsburgh region and the state of Pennsylvania. Refreshments will be served, and an RSVP will be required (click here).
